I was born a poor black child. I met Rob in 1976 and we formed The Civilized Riot Group (or CRG for short). Ahhhhh, the first band experience. With pimples. We played about 4 times a year. After a couple of years we parted company (we were kids) only for Rob and I to re-unite now. In between, Rob played with some of the best. The "19's" sound man, Mike Champlin, and I hooked up about a year later forming a band called Redgrave. That was a great band. Then Mike and I joined the Perfect Alibi and went on the road for a couple of years. Another great band. It was fun, Really fun. We eventually had to part company because Mike is not only a great soundman but a great musician, and he went on the road playing bass for Schoolboy Crush, only for us to re-unite now. At the same time, Tim was singing lead for Scandal and we knew each other well. Hell, I graduated high school with his wife. Only to re-unite now. See the pattern? This band was meant to be. We finally got the hint. In 2003, Tim, Rob, and I recorded a CD called "Project 19" with our good friend, Jeff Frazier, of Perfect Alibi fame, in Mike's Neon Cornfield Studio. Then we decided to take the show on the road. We got Kirk, Greg, and Michael to join us in our "midlife crisis" and here we are. But for me, there's a big gap between then and now. I took 20 plus years off. I realized I loved the music stuff. So why the name Project 19? It's simple, the first 18 sucked...And life's a series of projects. Thanks for visitin' our site. Steven J
